From there it is a short run east along Handsworth Road or the Parkway, which is why the east side of the city is often where we arrive quickest. This part of Sheffield has a lot of 1960s to 1980s housing, from the semis and terraces off Handsworth Road to the estates around Ballifield, Richmond and Woodhouse Mill. The most common call we get from S13 is not a dramatic break in. It is a uPVC door that has been getting harder to lock for months and finally will not lock at all. Anti snap cylinders for S13 homes
A lot of the euro cylinders fitted to uPVC and composite doors in the 1990s and 2000s were basic types that can be snapped. Upgrading them is quick and one of the best value security jobs you can have done. We fit anti snap locks from £120 per cylinder, and if you have front and back doors we can key them alike so one key opens both.
We measure the cylinder on the day so it sits flush with the handle. A cylinder that sticks out past the handle plate is easier to attack, so getting the size right matters as much as the brand.
Back doors are easy to forget. Many homes around Woodhouse Mill and Richmond have a back or side door that is used far less than the front, and its cylinder is often the original one from when the door was fitted. Because it faces a garden or a passage rather than the street, it is also the door a thief would rather work on. If you only upgrade one cylinder, make it that one, and we can match the key to the front door at the same visit.
