How lock snapping works – and how a 3-star cylinder stops it
A euro cylinder has a weak point in the middle where the cam turns. A burglar grips the part that sticks out and applies force until the cylinder breaks at that point, then turns the mechanism by hand. An anti-snap cylinder has a sacrificial section that breaks away first, leaving the part that controls the lock inside the door and still locked. 3-star cylinders are also tested against picking, drilling and bumping.

How fitting works
- We measure your cylinder. Euro cylinders come in many sizes and must fit flush.
- You choose the security level. We explain the options and prices before fitting.
- Fitted in minutes. The old cylinder is removed and the new one tested with the door locked and unlocked.
- New keys. You receive the new keys and, for registered systems, a key card for copies.

What does 3-star mean?
It shows the cylinder has been tested to resist snapping, picking, drilling and bumping to the TS007 standard.
Will it fit my door?
Almost every uPVC and composite door uses a euro cylinder. We measure it and fit the correct size.
How long does it take?
Usually a few minutes per door.
Do I need to change the handle as well?
Not if you fit a 3-star cylinder. Security handles are optional extra protection.
Will my insurer care?
Many insurers ask for anti-snap cylinders on external doors. Check your policy wording.
