- The handle turns but nothing happens. Usually a broken espagnolette or gearbox inside the frame.
- The handle is stiff or will not go down. The window has dropped or the keeps need adjusting.
- The key has been lost. We open the handle and fit a replacement, keyed or keyless.

Window security and your insurance
Many home insurance policies require key-operated locks on accessible windows, such as ground-floor and easily reached first-floor windows. If a burglar gets in through a window that cannot lock, a claim can be more difficult. Replacing a broken locking handle or mechanism is quick and usually far cheaper than people expect.
For uPVC windows the lock is normally an espagnolette strip inside the frame, operated by the handle. For wooden sash windows we fit sash locks and sash stops, which let you open the window a little for ventilation while keeping it secure.
