We are a locksmith Catcliffe households and businesses can call at any hour for lockouts, lock changes and repairs across Catcliffe, Treeton and Waverley in S60. From Broughton Lane in S9 it is a quick run along the Sheffield Parkway to junction 33, so we usually arrive in 15 to 30 minutes. Lockouts start from £59, and we agree the price on the phone before setting off.
To be clear about the postcode: Catcliffe is S60 and part of the Rotherham borough, not S13. Orgreave and Handsworth across the boundary are Sheffield S13, and we cover those too.
Catcliffe is one of the easiest places for us to reach. We join the Sheffield Parkway near our base, head east to the M1 at junction 33, and drop straight into the village. Treeton is a couple of minutes further along Treeton Lane, and Waverley is reached off the Parkway via the Highfield Lane side. Outside the rush hour the drive itself is short; our 15 to 30 minute range allows for getting on the road and for Parkway traffic at peak times.
If you are further into Rotherham itself, our Rotherham locksmith page has the times for the town centre and the wider borough.
These three places sit side by side but were built in completely different eras, so the doors and locks we find in each are different too.
An old village by the River Rother, best known for the eighteenth century Catcliffe Glass Cone. Older terraces and cottages sit alongside post-war council semis and bungalows. Expect timber doors with mortice locks as well as 1990s uPVC doors.
Most common jobs: lockouts, uPVC gearbox repairs, mortice upgrades.
A former mining village with rows of brick terraces from the colliery era and later estates around them. Back doors onto yards and passages are common, and many front doors are older uPVC.
Most common jobs: worn cylinders, stiff multipoint locks, back door security.
A new community built on the old Orgreave colliery and coking works land, with modern houses and town houses. Composite front doors and uPVC patio doors throughout.
Most common jobs: cylinder upgrades, doors out of alignment, lost keys.
Whichever of the three you live in, a fair number of homes are rented, from private landlords, housing associations or the council. Tenants should check the tenancy agreement before changing a lock, because most require the landlord’s consent and a copy of the new key. Landlords who want locks changed between tenants can use our landlord locksmith service, which covers Rotherham borough addresses as well as Sheffield. Whoever you are, we check ID or proof of address before opening a home.
New homes are generally well built, but the cylinder fitted at handover is not always the highest grade, and doors in new houses often move slightly as the building settles in its first year or two. These are the problems we see most on newer S60 homes.
| Symptom | Likely cause | What we do | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| Handle needs lifting hard to lock | Door has dropped or the frame has moved | Adjust hinges and keeps so the multipoint engages | £20 |
| No star mark on the cylinder | Standard cylinder fitted at build | Fit a TS007 3 star or Sold Secure SS312 Diamond cylinder | quoted on the phone |
| Not sure who has keys | Keys held by builders, agents or previous owners | Change the cylinders | £20 |
| Patio door hard to lock | Rollers or keeps out of line | Adjust or repair the lock | £40 |
If your home is still under the builder’s warranty, report alignment faults to them first. For cylinder upgrades and lock changes, see our anti-snap lock fitting page and our guide to the benefits of anti-snap locks.
Catcliffe and Treeton sit low beside the River Rother, and both were badly affected by the floods of 2007. Even without flooding, low lying ground and damp winters take a toll on doors: timber swells, hinges rust and lock mechanisms collect grit.
If a key starts to feel gritty or a door has to be shoved to latch, get it looked at before it fails completely. A lock repair from £55 is cheaper than a full replacement, and if the door itself has warped or the frame is damaged, our door repair service starts from £79.
The Advanced Manufacturing Park, home to the University of Sheffield’s AMRC and a range of engineering firms, sits right next to Catcliffe and Waverley, and there are other business units and trade counters around Poplar Way and the Parkway. Business calls tend to be about access rather than emergencies: who holds which key, how to stop a former employee getting back in, and doors that need to close and latch reliably.
From £60, with proof of authority to enter.
From £110, so each person only opens the doors they need.
Access control from £125, keyless entry from £130.
Closers from £79, BS EN 1125 panic bars from £65.
More on our commercial locksmith services.
Most emergency calls from S60 are straightforward lockouts: a composite door pulled shut with the keys on the kitchen worktop, or a uPVC door where the handle has been lifted but the key is inside. We open those without damage in the large majority of cases. See how our house lockout service works.
After a break in, call the police first, then us. We can secure a broken door or window with emergency boarding up from £120, and change the locks if keys were taken. If someone vulnerable or a pet is shut inside, or something is running inside the house, ring 999 before you ring a locksmith.
From Catcliffe we are only minutes from Darnall and our own base, from Beighton and Hackenthorpe to the south, and from Mosborough and Halfway beyond. Our full list is on the areas we cover in South Yorkshire page, and every starting price is on the prices page.
